Dimensity 9200+, MediaTek’s Most Powerful Chipset, Coming Soon
MediaTek debuted the D 9200 earlier this year as its top-tier SoC and was able to integrate it into some of Vivo’s most premium phones released in 2018. Now, there are widespread reports that the semiconductor industry intends to introduce an improved version of the processor. The rumored name of the new CPU is Dimensity 9200+, and it is likely to be MediaTek’s most powerful 5G chipset this year.

Digital Talk Station, a reputable Chinese tipping source, reports that the Dimensity 9200+ is imminent. It is not difficult to deduce from the chipset’s name that it is an improved version of the 9200 chipset and will likely have a higher CPU speed. The current D9200 features an octa-core architecture with one fast Cortex-X2 core clocked at up to 3 GHz, three A710 cores with up to 2.85 GHz, and four Cortex-A510 cores with up to 1.8 GHz. It employs an Immortalis-G715 graphics processing unit.
On this basis, we can assume that the Dimensity 9200+ will also include a 1+3+4 architecture and that the super-large core’s primary frequency will exceed 3.05 GHz. It will almost certainly be built by TSMC using its second-generation 4nm technology.
The AnTuTu score for the D9200 exceeded 1.2 million points, so it would not surprise us to see the Dimensity 9200+ surpass 1.3 million. It is anticipated to compete with Qualcomm’s second-generation Snapdragon 8 mobile platform, which has achieved a remarkable AnTuTu running score of more than 1,300,000 points.
The commercial release of the Dimensity 9200+ chip is slated for the second half of this year. OPPO, Vivo, and Xiaomi are reportedly exploring using the chip in forthcoming devices.
